The new FT-891 is a multi-band and multi-mode portable transceiver with up to 100 Watts of stable high output power. Carefully and intelligently designed to fit into an Ultra Compact (6.1'' x 2.0'' x 8.6'') rugged case, the FT-
891 includes many popular features typically found only in larger-sized HF transceivers. High reliability and durability are assured for long-lasting enjoyable operations on the HF bands, thanks to our state-of-the-art superb transmitter
circuit design innovations for heat dissipation including a rugged die-cast chassis and efficient thermostatic-controlled dual internal fans. We believe the new FT-891 will be widely accepted as an ideal compact-sized and attractively
priced HF/50MHz mobile; whether it is primarily used at home, as
mobile in your favorite vehicle, or as a portable in the field.

In keeping with Yaesu's uncompromising receiver design, we have included a 3kHz Roofing Filter as standard equipment. The FT-891 triple conversion receiver with a 1st IF frequency of 69.450MHz enables outstanding performance and high
quality easily understood audio. The new FT-891 also provides Yaesu's DSP QRM and Noise Reduction functionality. The 32bit high speed floating point DSP provides effective cancellation and reduction (DNR) of random noise that frequently
frustrate those using HF frequencies. In addition, Auto Notch (DNF) automatically eliminates QRM causing dominant beat tones while the receiver's
Contour function and APF (Audio Peak Filter) can be used to further reduce undesired HF noise.

The new FT-891 is very easy to operate. The Large Diameter (1.6") Main Tuning Dial with Torque adjustment and all other front panel keys are placed in logical locations for simple and quick access to frequently needed controls. For example,
a Multi-Function knob allows quick adjustment of the operating frequency in 500kHz Steps. The QMB key is useful for "Quick Memory Bank" storing of five (5) frequency memories and easily recalling them. Another three front panel keys are
programmable in accordance with the rig user's personal
preferences. The front panel highly visible Full-Dots matrix LCD display with a Quick Spectrum Scope is detachable for convenient mounting for easy control access where it is needed - at your fingertips. The TX/BUSY indicator on the
faceplate clearly informs the operator about the current state of the transceiver. For instance, it glows green when receiving signals while the squelch opens and turns red during transmit.

The new optional FC-50 External Antenna Tuner is specifically designed for the new FT-891. This microprocessor-controlled antenna tuner is capable of automatic-matching 200 memories. It can be easily coupled with the new FT-891.
Other useful included standard features are; USB port for PC connection with a single cable (CAT control, audio interface, PTT/RTTY control; TUN/LIN connector for optional FC-50 or VL-1000 RF amplifier; advanced 4-60WPM Electronic Keyer
with FULL BK-IN support; active Antenna Tuning System for optional ATAS-120A and ATAS-25 antennas; 99 Memories and Band-limiting Memories; Alpha-Numeric Labeling of Memories, and important Automatic Power-Off (APO) and Time-Out Time(TOT)
functions.
